Moab, UT

I compiled my poster from a bunch of photos I took on a camping trip in Moab, Utah and surrounding areas last spring break. It was such an incredible trip and I'm glad I was able to finally  do something with these photos.

Tetons Poster

Images provided by Judi Morrison. The main image we can see here is the Grand Teton Mountains that are a host to a wide variety of animals. Here on display are some images of local wildlife from mountain goat, to a red fox, to a bison. Included as well is one of the signs seen while traveling through the Tetons to reminding you to slow down so you don't hit the local wildlife.

Cats and Dogs

I'm obviously infatuated with my animals. I have 3 cats and 2 dogs. They're all weirdly photogenic so as the animal mom I am I thought I would brag about them in this poster. All the photos are my own taken over the last couple of years.

5 Image Mini Project

A poster of the wildlife around the Teton area. All the photos used are the ones provided in class.

My Trip to Israel

This is my trip to Israel back in 2015, where I spent three weeks seeing the sites. All photos were ones I took myself while there.

Behind the Scenes (Mini Project) Rebekah Punt

I took these pictures of our production of Les Miserables in Spring 2013 at Hillcrest High School.

Banner mini project. Tanner Pavlacky

Caylee Baker - Omar Brito

I made this poster of my cousin senior pictures. Her name is Caylee and she ask me to take all of her senior photos while visiting Idaho.  These images where taken in Boise, Twin Falls, and Castleford.

Wildlife in the Rockies!

Wildlife has always been something I travel to experience. In these photos, my family and I had taken a trip to the Rocky mountains. The animals that my family photographed there will always remain a fond memory or mine. Keeping your distance from these animals is one of the most important things you can do while trying to get a good look. People can tend to get too comfortable and startle the animals which can lead to dangerous situations. So if you are going on an adventure to photograph wild creatures, bring your best lenses!

The event that I have chosen for the subject of my five image poster is the 2016 Youth Hunter Education Challenge, also called YHEC. The event showcases the marksmanship abilities of young hunters and outdoorsmen. Each image represents a few of the eight different events that the competitors must participate in. The events shown above include black powder, archery, 22. long rifle, and orienteering. I chose my larger showcase image for many reasons, first it provided look room for the poster so you are drawn to the boys eye line which aligns with the four images to the right of the poster. I also chose the images in the smaller boxes because of their direction, each of the top three images all face to the right allowing an easy flow through the poster and a t the bottom the subjects are not distracting to disrupt that flow.

Mini Proj-- Alyssa Granatir: Mountain Pictures

I used the photos given since I was busy dealing with other homework, but I wanted each animal to look towards the centerfold because my mom, a yearbook editor, would always tell me that if people looked away from the edge a viewer's eye would linger longer on the photo, or page spread.

Layers Project Farnes

I had a difficult time coming up with some cohesive series of things I wanted to photograph. I have so  many things I enjoy but wanted mine to be unique. I ended up taking many different photographs but took the ones that inspired me the most as far as my personal artistic journey. The largest picture in the series is one of my first real artists gifts I recieved which was an amazing set of colored pencils. Many of them are original to the set but I have had to replace many of them. The image was taken with a fisheye lens that was made for mobile devices and then cropped. The other images are all of things that have inspired me as an artist. They are not in order of importance but how I felt was visually most pleasing.
On the far left there is a picture of a Wall-e from the Pixar film made from Lego bricks. Wall-e was an important film to me as it not only solidified my love of Pixar films but also was the first time I really recognized the beauty of an intricate well made story. Next is my wife's and my wedding rings as she is truly a wonderful source of inspiration and continually moves me forward. Third is all the points of tools that I commonly use when I am drawing and they include a Wacom Stylus, woodless pencil, a 0.05 marker and a x-acto knife blade. The last is a pin from the film Tomorrow Land directed by Brad Bird. I wear this constantly and if you've seen the movie you'll understand why and if not I won't spoil it for you. I really enjoyed it.
The pictures are arranged as so not to be too jumbled or to stop the eye anywhere but to have a natural progression through the picture. There is also a bit of color balancing with the picture of Wall-e and the pin as they are similar in color but the rings are similar in shape and having them be in the places they are has a sence of a pattern. The colored pencils on the also have a sence of pattern but have a special sence of color rather than a repetition of a color pattern but it is pleasing to the eye. The letting was chosen as it is reminiscent of brush strokes and the orange and blue colors are complimentary (and also two of my favorites).

EISF GEM STATE CLASSIC RODEO

These photos are from the Eastern Idaho State Fair 2016 at the Gem State Classic Rodeo. My Mother and I are on the committee and we do the Mutton Bustin. Rodeo is my passion along with photography, because of knowing so many people involved, I was able to take photos in areas others could not. The purpose of this photo is to show you that there is a lot of excitement with this sport. Rodeo allows diversity among many ages. As well brings awareness to the community for those who need it.

Main Top photo is a close friend Kassi who was honored to pack the American Flag.
Photos/Events Left to right Barrel Racer, Afro Man (Rodeo Queen Horse), Grand Entry for Man Up Crusade being packed by a little girl who had lost her dad and Bareback rider.

Challis Rod & Gun Club

I made a 5-image banner of pictures I took last year at the annual Challis Rod & Gun Christmas shoot. Every year sine I was 4 i have been participating in these events, whether it be playing bingo inside the club house, shooting, or being a score keeper. The man in thee banner image is my dad and he's the one that introduced me to this sport. The other men in the pictures are also long time members of the club and they are devoted to helping children and beginners every chance they can. The second image from the left is two of the many gun racks that hold shotguns for the members. The images portray the relaxed yet very competitive atmosphere of the annual trap shoot. The images also show the different gear that each sportsman uses during the cold winter temperature.

Smith Homestead

All of these photos were taken for my Intro to Photography course last semester. They were taken the same day in the same place: a little town called Rockland, Idaho. The little farm/homestead belongs to my boyfriend's family, purchased from the original family by his grandfather. The family who built the homestead and lived there for many years were the Smiths, which is why I chose to call it the Smith Homestead for the purpose of this poster. It served as a land of many adventures for my boyfriend when he was little, but is now used for cows and sometimes horses.

In this 5 photo poster I've put 5 different photos of trips I went on in 2016, all were taken by me except the bottom left of me that was taken by my little brother the top photo was taken on the hills of Hollywood I love how the sky looks in this photo and the city of course! LA is a beautiful place. the bottom left picture was taken of me by my little brother in Santa Monica (I made him take it, he was rewarded with a hotdog) I love the beach at night or sunset this day was gloomy so it made a beautiful sky. The photo next to it was my birthday trip to The Grand Canyon it was so amazing to look at, it was one of the best birthdays ever. The picture next to it is the Tetons we had a group of friends hike to Jenny Lake and this mountain was out 1st view, the last photo is in St. Anthony I enjoy candid photos this is my friend fishing on the river on a nice summer day.

Haylie Keck

Volleyball has been my life since age 5. These are some pictures of me playing. The oldest one (yellow jersey) was taken my sophomore year of high school. The newest one is me in the orange jersey, playing for Idaho State.

Family Pictures

I made this poster of pictures that were recently taken of my husband and me. They were taken up Big Cotton Wood Canyon in Utah during our Christmas break. My husband is currently serving in a special forces unit and lives on the East coast where he does most of his training. We rarely get to see each other because of this so I had our pictures taken so that we could reminisce on our time together spent in 2016.

Mount Idaho: Wyatt Sommer

I made this poster of Mount Idaho. Mount Idaho is a local group of outdoor enthusiast that share a passion for hunting, fishing, and being in the outdoors. Each photo has it's own story. Far left:  Elk hunting trip this fall with friends, it was unsuccessful but lots of fun. Second from the left: A 6 lb brown trout that I caught on January 8, 2017. Third from the left: One of my good buddies was able to harvest this giant deer in Kilgore, Idaho during general rifle season. Far right: A picture of me and my brother after a long day hiking and him getting his first elk.

Wildlife Poster

I created this poster using the images we were provided with in the email. They are not my images!

Can't Beat The Summer Heat! --Ashlyn Ellis

I did my poster on the the vacation that my family and I took over this past summer to Lake Havasu City, Arizona. My mom, dad, brother, and myself are in these pictures. All five of my pictures were taken on July 9, 2016 by me, except for the bottom right photo, where my mom took the picture of my dad and I in a telephone booth. I really loved this vacation here, even though it was extremely hot with temperatures ranging from 100-104 degrees Fahrenheit. I am used to the heat since I live in Nevada, but it was definitely nice to cool off by swimming in the lake. Everyone was there to ride around in their boats, go paddle boarding, and just have a good time partying with friends and family on the beach. Hopefully we will go back again this coming summer!

Trip to Canada

Last summer my mom and dad took me Canada for my senior trip. We went the last week of July and it was everything I had dreamed it would be and more. My favorite TV show is filmed in Alberta, Canada in a little town called High River. We got to go there and see part of the set and we even caught them filming and got to watch for a little while. We got to go on a trail ride through the beautiful mountains of Canada and since that was my first trail ride and I love riding horses, it was a dream come true. We did many other things such as, go to olympic park in Calgary and ride the luge, saw the biggest truck in the world, went to the museum in High River with displays of the TV shows and movies that have been filmed there, lots of driving, and we went to Silverwood on the way home. The views were beautiful and I had such a fun week spending time with my parents before I left for college. I wouldn't give that week in Canada back for anything.

Layer Basics Kuhn 003

For the poster project I wanted to put together a few images from past adventures. The first image is from Idaho Falls, second from a paint party in St. George, Utah, and finally the last two are from Stanley, Idaho.

Sorry Judith, no moose on those trips!

Hockey Training Camp

The poster I decided to go with is a advertisement of a training camp that I would like one day to open up for children trying to learn how to play hockey as well as teenagers trying to improve their skills to either move into collegiate hockey or professional. My main photo at the top is a photo of my actual hockey area that I used to play in every day for practice and weekends for games. The other photos were taken by my dad since I couldn't take my own photos of myself playing. The first two are photos of me playing for the Jr. Ducks program when I was 17/18 years of age. The next two are pictures of me playing for my semi-pro team in Fresno, California. I chose these pictures because I felt that it portrayed what I want to get across and that is a hockey camp. Hockey players and parents of hockey players would take a look at my poster and automatically know that I am a credible person to teach their child on how to teach them to play hockey and improve their child's skill level.

Bengal Baseball

The banner that I created is in honor of Bengal Baseball 2017. This is my last semester of being eligible to play, so I am going to take in every moment I can. The picture on the far left is myself playing first base last fall season. The next photo is a pregame selfie of my team the first spring season I played in Mesquite, Nevada the first weekend of March in 2015. The next photo is a throwback logo of our team that we use on our gear occasionally. Next, there is photo of myself leading off of second base with Boise State's shortstop behind me. The last photo was taken by a teammate while I was at bat against Boise State last fall season. The photo I used as the whole background is a picture that I took of a lot baseballs in a bucket. This image is edited to really show the detail that is on the balls.

My Passion for Cars

This is a poster about my passion for cars. I started to develop an interest/obsession with cars when I sat in my first Ferrari. It was a 2005 Ferrari F430 Spider. I would have liked to use more photos of me in exotic cars, but they weren't useful for this assignment. The banner photo is of me in a 2013 Lamborghini Aventador Roadster in Hawaii. This was the second Lamborghini I ever sat in. The first being a 2004 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder. The photo on the far left is of me sitting on a 1980's Honda. It hardly ran and had the squeakiest door hinges ever, but I thought it was a funny picture. The picture one to the right is a picture of me standing next to a 2013 Bentley Continental GTC. I wasn't allowed to sit in this one, but I went inside and found two others that were "open" to the public. The next picture is of me driving to my grandmas house in a 2005 Jeep Wrangler with the top off. It was a nice day and I thought it would be nice to go visit my grandma. The last picture on the far right is of me behind the wheel of a bus. My brother and I were out and about and we noticed some buses for sale. We pulled over and decided to take some mandatory bus driver pictures.

Wildlife of the Northwest - Brynne Hardwicke

This is a poster showcasing various animals of the Northwestern United States. The top banner shows an image of Grand Teton mountains, an environment where many of these animals can be found. The first image below the banner is some bighorn sheep located near Jackson, Wyoming in the Elk Refuge. Next is a bison near Jackson. After that is a mountain goat located near Alpine, Wyoming. Finally, the last picture is a moose and baby in Grand Teton National Park. All of these photos were taken in December 2016 during an amazing winter trip to Wyoming. It was full of wildlife and wonder!

Lava Frost Tree-Photo #3

This photo was taken at approximately 8:45pm on January 15th, 2017. The lighting was artificially produced by a street lamp. The trees create a sense of repetition and the bricks partially frame them.

Geese and Boyfriends- Photo #2

This photo was taken at approximately 3:40pm on January 12th, 2017. It includes a horizon, and the geese are creating an S-line. There is also a foreground, middle ground and background.

Sushi Date-Photo #1 Ashley Lanier

This photo was taken at approximately 1:26pm on January 12th, 2017. This photo has a subject, that happens to be my best friend Brittany H. I chose this photo because it includes bright colors, and it includes a foreground, middleground, and background (soy sauce, Brittany, and bricks)

Miniature Ice Fortress

This panoramic picture uses a lot in the way of horizontal and vertical lines and a heavy imbalance. The viewer is taken from right to left in this photo with the singular ice laden branch and quickly takes them to the right where there is a lot of repeted lines and patterns. This, makes the picture almost delve into the abstract on the far right. This photo was taken off of Highline Rd. On Saturday January 14th @ 4:27 pm just behind Gold's Gym.

Light from salt, narrow hallways, and water in depth.

1/16/2017 studio apt, salt lamp.

This picture was taken in my studio apartment of my girlfriend's salt lamp. The composition consists of strong contrast between textures, colors, shapes and depth of position. The frame contains balance in the rule of thirds format. The object (salt lamp) is to the right of the composed frame which gives in to the rule of third framing. The luminescence of the lamp contrasts the dark surrounding drawing the eye toward our subject/object and its more bright center. The texture on the lamp its self appear coarse and shinny, while the black glass top provide a smooth sleek texture which contrasts and provides opposing balance. Furthermore, the color of the salt lamp and the colors of the rest of the composed image have a drastic dynamic color range. This picture was taken approximately at 8:45 p.m in my studio apartment.

1/15/2017 apt hallway, illuminated hallway.

In this photo of the pathway to my studio apartment, you can find color, depth and perspective, balance and composition symmetry. Drastic color contrast can be found by way of the dark glass in the door's upper side and by the red fire alarm centered in the upper portion of this photo as it contrasts the yellow hue created by the overhead lights drastically. The centered angle of this shot provides depth and perspective and draws the viewing with its balance and symmetry demanding the viewers attention as it lead them to the "back" of the hallway. The symmetry provides a constructed view point that flows from one direction to another. In this case being the hallway its self. This picture was taken approximately at 4:35 p.m in my studio apartment hallway and illustrates my doorway.

1/16/2017 A friend's house, water bottle in focus.

Here, you'll find a dutch angle(oblique), shallow depth of field (bokeh), dynamic subject placement, and high angle perspective. The dutch angle is providing the perspective of an object/subject tilted to an odd or oblique angle providing an odd view of the object. The background of the photo is blurred(bokeh) and provides more focus for the object in the foreground, in this case being the water bottle, ensuring that nothing in the background will serve to distract. Dynamic subject placement can be found within the frame, as the object is places in a captivating angle and relativity to the sensor or lens. Finally, the high angle perspective can be found, as we're peering down the object from a high point of view. We're looking from the top of the object and our eyes are drawn down. This picture was taken approximately at 3:45 p.m in a friend's living room space.

Drink Up - Omar Brito

This is a picture of my friend’s dog drinking some water out of a plastic bowl. The foreground has a clean sharp subject, while behind it is a blurry background for a shallow depth of field. The dog and the water bowl creates a vertical line in the center of the image at a low angle shot. This image was taken at my house in Blackfoot Idaho at 8:29PM on January 16, 2017.

Icy Snow- Omar Brito

This is a picture of my sister breaking up the icy hard snow to get to her shed. She had no clue I was taking a picture of her so this is a candid shot. She is the main subject in the image as well as the shovel is the secondary subject. You’ll see the diagonal line behind the main subject from the vehicles towards the power poles creates a line that kind of match up with the shovel. Creating a canted shot in a way.  Also this image counts as the rule of thirds for the face hits the points of two lines crossing on a grid. This image was taken at Blackfoot Idaho at 6:15PM on January 16, 2017.

Basket toss at cheer practice. Picture #3

Although this picture is a tad blurry, it is a candid shot because the bases are focused on the flyer, Kiana Hugues who is set in motion. I took this picture tonight, at 6:45 pm. The guys' arms are in lines leading you to the subject who is in mid-backflip. Although there is no look room past Kiana, there is some between Kiana and where the bases eyes are, to show just exactly how high they threw her. I had to take this picture at a higher angle just for the purpose to get Kiana in the picture, which also shows the beams and the horizontal lines they create on the ceiling.

Frost after the Fog

This photo was taken after an extremely freezing foggy morning causing the water in the air to freeze heavily on vegetation. The picture's use of line and shape takes the viewer from the bottom left hand corner of the picture (due to the contrast of the shadow on the snow bank in the foreground) which then takes you to the right side and up the statue. And eventually into the frosted bush. I feel that this also uses the rule of thirds with the snowbank being the bottom, the statue being the top and bush being the middle third. This photo was taken on January 13th 2017 at 11:57 in the parking lot at Idaho Central Credit Union's main office in Chubbuck.

Trimming Away- Omar Brito

This is a picture of my dad trimming a brand new counter top we install in my brother kitchen. My image contains the rule of thirds with my dad chin being in upper left corner. It has kind of a low angle shot starting from the bottom left corner with a shallow depth of field of the counter side being blurry and the router (the router is the tool trimming the side of the counter top) in focus. The layering as well starts on the bottom left from the counter side to the router, my dad, and then the window in the back. This image was taken in Boise Idaho in my brother kitchen at 1:15AM on January 15, 2017.

Don't let the sun and clear blue sky fool you. Picture #2

The pattern of the fence is in kind of a zig zag formation but also stacked on top of each other. Tire tracks in the snow add texture to the picture. I took this picture Sunday, January 15, 2017 at 2:34 pm. I tried several different ways to take this picture, and the one that ended up looking the best was this was taken at a low angle, while I was kneeling on the ground and tilted my phone slightly giving is a dutch angle look, and making the horizontal line look like it is tilting downward. With the tree bending, I made sure to give it more look room to the left, so you could get the color of the sky and see the whole tree without cutting it off.

A friend and her large white rabbit

This image I took of a friend seemed quite busy to me at first, but after looking at it I found that I like the placement of her with her Large rabbit. I used the rule of thirds putting my friend in the top right of the photograph. The eyes will look at the color and contrast which is the bunny because it is so white. After the rabbit the rest of the picture comes into focus with the color going from white to the darker brown color of the wood. The Horizontal line of the entertainment center creates a line that goes straight to my friends eyes creating balance. The background layer has texture and seems to draw the eyes to the silver and the clock in the right hand corner. I took this photo of my friend Mallory with her bunny named puff on the night of January 11th, at 9:15 pm in my home, in Pocatello Idaho, on the south side of town. This photograph was posed

A Runner in the Dark

This image of a candid subject using it's many lines and shapes that draw you toward the extreme background. The figure in the back also has very little definition and is heavily contrasted to the imadiate white background which I feel uses dynamic subject placement. The use of minimal light and most of the picture being dark give it an ominous feel. This feeling is also heightened with the bulk of the picture having very dark colors. The mats on the left hand side also make the picture feel very enclosed. The contrast of dark on the left and light on the right make your eye focus in the middle and force it once again to the figure.  This picture was taken at approximately 8:10 am at Reed Gym. On January 16th.

Two Poochies

First of the two pictures is the cropped version that allows for look room on the main subject as well as the background or secondary subject. There is color balancing with lighter dog and carpet with darker patches mixed with the darker dog that also coincides with bits of lighter coloring. Lines  are present with the dogs main subjects legs leading to his body and his back leading to the background subject. The background subject's fur also has lines that lead to the main subject. To the right is the original image taken Saturday, January 14 at 9:17 pm.

Juan Quinones-Candid shot in the sun

I photographed my friend as we went for a short walk on 1/13/17. In this picture, I snapped a candid picture of him while he was laughing. I also managed to capture the background which has a fairly horizontal line with the hills in the background. Additionally, I used the rule of thirds to make the composition of the photo a little more dynamic.

Idaho State Basketball Game Picture #1

This picture was taken on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 7:05 pm. This candid photo was taken at the Idaho State University Men's Basketball game, and was taken of the some of the cheerleaders before they are about to perform. The balance of color between the orange and black on the floor, the uniforms and the chairs bring the picture together and back to the girl in the foreground, Bailey Hill. The extreme foreground subject is shown in the upper part of the bleachers, where you can't see all the way to the ceiling. The horizontal line at the top of the picture divides the chair seats from the bleachers. Subject placement is the formation that the cheerleaders are put in, making it so if you were to take the photo at different angles and stood in different places you would have a different subject every time.

The man in the Tree

This picture was taken on January 16th 2017 at 4:15.  Oshea being my dynamic subject placement between the spaces in the tree. The tree being centered in the rule of thirds. The tree showing a pattern with its branches sprouting out. A layered photo with the tree, oshea, and house. You can see the texture of the tree with a low angle shot. A balance in color scheme with the black sweater drawing the eyes.

Juan Quinones-Posing for a pic

This photo was taken on 1/13/17 at one of my friend's house. In this picture you can clearly see color and contrast between the face of the person and the background. That contrast, together with the lens I was using, gives us an extreme foreground subject that adds a tight and "in your face" look to the picture.

All feathered up! 01/16/17 at 6:03 PM

Beautiful birds providing wonderful balance, color and contrast of various colors surrounding each bird. The use of green/yellowish rings gives the picture depth of field by making your eye focus on the furthest bird in the photo as well as bringing in curved lines within the ring. Dynamic subject placement falls into this photo as well since I waited for one of the birds to sit directly in between the ring to get this photo with the use of a horizontal line from the metal cage bar to keep you focused on the yellow bird in the ring and not wonder off.

My dogs and their white rabbit

Here I have created an image that is multi layered with the dog in the front, the dog in the middle and the dog on the couch. The color and contrast comes from the fur of the dogs and the small white rabbit peeking at the dog on the ground in front of her. I took this Photo in my living room at 11pm on January 11th, on the south side of Pocatello. The depth and perspective comes from the nose of my main subject being in the left bottom of the photo, using the rule of thirds. The first dog being so close to the lens focuses the eyes to her which after the eyes follow the line of dogs up the couch. This photo was candid because I found the perfect moment where my pets had been comfortable enough with a bunny hopping all around them. These animals are mine and their names ranging from the front to the back are Brandi (The boxer), Ringo (the black lab), Starr (the yellow lab), and Alice (the white rabbit).

Juan Quinones-Curious puppies

This image was taken after dark on 1/16/17. The puppies in this photo have recently been put outside so they are still a little scared to go out of their shelter at night. This picture has some depth between the puppy in the foreground and the puppies in the background, where the photo is focused, creating an imbalance.
