Jack Dodge ponders the meaning of signs in front of the Salt Lake City Convention Center

Jack Dodge wondered up to this bright display of overwhelming signage and muttered to a little more than himself "What the heck is this?" producing an interestingly candid shot.

This image, though closely set, is multilayered and depicts contrast and color that work together to provide interest.  Here we see a balance between the red bench and the red "you are here" sign allowing your eyes to work their way around the picture while adding to it, some human interest and dynamic subject placement.  There are numerous horizontal and vertical lines and patterns that add to the intrigue of this photo, capturing your attention.

The rule of thirds was used placing Jack in the bottom right-hand intersection of the photo.  The black color of Jack's coat adds a strong contrast and draws your eye to him.  There is also a good amount of look room that captures what he might be looking at.

This picture was taken at 3:45 pm. Sunday, January 15, 2017 in front of the Salt Lake City Convention Center in downtown Salt Lake City during out 2017 Grizz Cup hockey tournament trip.  Jack is my son (aka, the hockey player).
