City Light, Salt Lake City, Utah
This is photo #4 and was purely experimental but I thought I would add it anyways for any criticisms that might help me with night time photography in the future as this is my first attempt at something like this.
This shot was taken through my hotel window on the 11th floor of the Holiday in Express in downtown Salt Lake City, as is evident by some of the interesting reflections seen in the image (notably the blue lights that are reflected to the left of the street lights).
This photo incorporates leading lines that were developed by not only the road leading into the top left portion of the "rule of thirds" area but also by the light trails from the passing cars. I placed the "crane" sign in the top left of the photo to help balance the line of the street and the buildings on the right-hand side. The buildings show a Z axis incorporating layers to the photo. The trailing lights, as well as the reflections on the window, add a color dimension as well as movement to this shot.
This shot was taken on Friday, January 13th at about 6:20 pm in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah while awaiting my sons upcoming 4 am hockey game.
