Ashlyn Ellis Photo #3: Family Bulk Buying

In my final photo, the original picture had a lot of things going on so I followed the rule of "less is more" and zoomed in closer to the family seen here. The layering in this picture has shopping carts in the foreground, an entire family as the main focus in the mid-ground, and various groceries on the stands in the background. Since the family is the main focus, I made sure to leave look room in the right direction since the lady with the baby, along with everyone else, are walking and looking that way. This is also a candid shot seeing as how there is movement in everyone's steps, everyone is looking in the same general direction, and the little boy in black is getting ready to extend his arm to point in the direction that everyone is going. There are definitely a lot of colors going on, from the gray of the floor and the green of the baby and mother's clothes giving us a restful feeling, to the eye-capturing red of the boxes of food that create warmth. Even though the family's movement is drawing us to the right, the vertical lines of the floor and the framing of the stands draw us further back into the picture where all the other food is located in the store. The rule of thirds is definitely seen as well, with the family being the focal points of the top third of the picture both vertically and horizontally. I took this photo on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at around 1:30pm at the Costco store here in Pocatello, Idaho. I really loved how there was a lot going on, but if you zoomed in closer, you could get a better overall picture.
