The Lick
This picture exhibits the curved lines technique. The lines of the cat in the picture are curved and start at the lower left and go up toward the top middle part of the picture. They end up at the lower mid right part of the picture. This picture also shows a layering technique. The cats whiskers and face are in the foreground and are also very sharp, but the rest of the cat are in the mid ground. The background includes the wall and bookcase. The rest of the cat is a little more blurry than the face and whiskers of the cat, while the wall and bookcase are even blurrier behind the cat. The effect shallow depth of field is shown by that effect as well. In this picture shallow depth of field is combined with a layered effect. The rule of thirds is also present with her face taking up that spot. This picture draws your eye to her face, but it draws you to her licking herself even more. It is candid, because you can't plan on when she will be cleaning herself. This picture isolates my cat form the rest of the picture making the rest of the picture irrelevant and preventing your eye from focusing on it. It was taken Thursday night around 7 pm at my in laws. The cat is my cat Pumpkin, She is staying there while i am moving.
