Winter Hammocking at City Creek in Pocatello, Idaho

My friend, Rylie, having a conversation with another friend on a hammocking outing at City Creek in Pocatello, Idaho on Saturday, January 14, 2017 around 4:30pm. This photograph is an example of layering with the orange and baby blue hammock in the foreground, Rylie in the mid ground, and the trees and snow in the background. There are a few different textures in this picture. First, the hammock fabrics wrinkle creating one texture and the trees in background create another texture. The picture is a candid shot of Rylie. She was not posed for this picture nor do I think she knew I was taking it at the time. There is a repetition of vertical/diagonal lines created by the hammocks. The main orange and blue hammocks provide some contrasting colors which capture your attention right away and then Rylie’s coat provides more colors to, again, draw the eye to the main subject. The colors further contrast with the bright white snow in the background. The two hammocks in the foreground also almost create a natural frame for the subject of the photograph.
